Another senior living facility to break ground

Another senior living facility will break ground in the Houston area this month.

The Woodlands-based Methodist Retirement Communities will break ground on The Crossings in League City on April 7.

The new $74 million development will be on 18.8 acres near the intersection of FM 270 and FM 518. Construction, which will create more than 150 jobs, is expected to be complete in the fall of 2015.

The Crossings will consist of 116 independent living apartments, 34 assisted living apartments, 48 skilled nursing apartments and 24 memory-support apartments. The campus also will include multiple casual and fine dining venues, a fitness facility, swimming pool and various activity centers.

Many assisted living facilities are popping up throughout the Houston area. Just this month, two companies unveiled plans for multiple senior living facilities in the Houston area.

Houston Business Journal dove into the trend, analyzing how the wave of Baby Boomers is changing the assisted living landscape in Houston.
