To meet the demands of an expanding market and further its corporate mission and goals, Presbyterian Retirement Communities Northwest built a 26-story CCRC in downtown Seattle.

The site for Skyline at First Hill is extremely steep with slopes at about an 11 percent grade and is located near bustling downtown Seattle. Designed with the benefits of urban living in mind, PRDG preserved downtown views for individual units and ensured that the historic chapel on an adjacent site was minimally impacted. Awareness of where the shadows from Skyline at First Hill would be cast were kept in the forefront of design, assuring that they were not cast over the neighboring church.

A retail center is located on the ground floor and provides residents an opportunity for social interaction as well as convenient access to everyday necessities. Skyline at First Hill consists of 200 independent apartments, 60 assisted living units, 30 skilled nursing units, and 16 dementia units.
