Methodist Retirement Communities selected PRDG to redevelop and expand this assisted living and skilled nursing community.

The existing community was filled to capacity and lacked modern amenities and an efficient design for staff. PRDG was selected to design Phase I of the expansion which included construction of a new health center for the existing community featuring 48 assisted living units, 18 memory care units and 48 skilled nursing units. Enabling residents and staff to remain in place during construction was an important project goal.

Phase II now includes the addition of 92 independent living apartments to complete the CCRC model. Dining rooms, social spaces, a wellness center, and salons are now available for all levels of care. A new chapel—utilizing existing stained glass windows—helps bridge the connection between the health center and independent living apartments.

Design of the additional campus capitalizes on the wooded site. Mature live oak trees and an existing walking trail are incorporated into the design to facilitate outdoor recreation. The original building has a strong connection to the outdoors, which is a theme that continues in the new community.
